Frustrated that your lawmakers aren’t listening? Take a moment to let them know their constituents say no to sex-denialism, no to the medicalization of distress, and no to the erosion of women’s rights.
Join author, feminist, and civil liberties attorney Kara Dansky and DIAG in calling on your local elected officials to take a strong stand to protect women, children, and the rights of gays and lesbians. Use DIAG’s Action Button and our customizable template letter to quickly send your lawmaker links to Dansky’s latest efforts to reach Harris and Walz, and the broader slate of Democratic legislators. Her “open letter to Kamala Harris from a Democratic woman” explains how the redefinition of sex to include “gender identity” in U.S. law and policy — which the Vice President publicly supports — harms women and girls as a sex class and threatens gay rights by denying the material reality of sex (you can’t protect sex-based rights if you can’t acknowledge what sex is).
In her op ed, “Tim Walz owes Democrats some answers on ‘gender identity’ and children,” Dansky called on journalists to ask Governor Walz tough questions about why he supported turning Minnesota into a “trans refuge state” in 2023 and whether he stands by that decision. As Dansky explained, the “phrase ‘gender-affirming care’ sounds nice, but as investigative journalist Gerald Posner explained in the Wall Street Journal last year, such interventions are more like a human experiment that borders on child abuse,” and that “[t]he case is rapidly crumbling for allowing minors to take such drugs and have surgeries with irreversible complications if they merely claim to have a ‘gender identity’ different from their biological sex.”
Kara Dansky’s message needs to be amplified. Make sure your legislators hear it.
