US Representatives

206 of our Democratic representatives voted against protecting women and girls in sports

On January 14, 2025, the House of Representatives passed HR 28, the “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025.” The purpose of the bill? “To amend the Education Amendments of 1972 to provide that for purposes of determining compliance with title IX of such Act in athletics, sex shall be recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.”

In other words, the honors, achievements and safety of girls and women in sports should be protected from males.

HR28 passed the House, no thanks to 206 of our Democratic reps who voted AGAINST protecting women and girls. Yes, you read that right. Against.

Several Democrats added insult to injury by disgracing themselves on the House floor with false and inflammatory claims about the bill.  Congressmembers Becca Balint (Vt-At Large), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), Maxwell Frost (FL-10), Andrea Salinas (OR-6), Emily Randall (WA-6), Val Hoyle (OR-4), Mark Pocan (WI-2), Sara Jacobs (CA-51), Yassamin Ansari (AZ-3), Melanie Stansbury (NM-1), Katherine Clark (MA-5), Mark Takano (CA-39), Mark Pocan (WI-2) and Jerry Nadler (NY-12), among others, falsely claimed the bill opened the door to “genital inspections” of girls’ bodies and “empowered pedophiles and predators.”

Only two Democrats, Henry Cuellar (TX-28) and Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34), voted for the bill. Donald G. Davis, (NC-1) voted “present.” Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-7), Nancy Pelosi (CA-11), Brittany Pettersen (CO-7), Brad Sherman (CA-32), Eric Swalwell (CA-14), and George Whitesides (CA-27) did not vote (Reason: unknown).
